This piece was made for an illustrated zine page. We were asked to make an illustration with “niche” as the topic. For mine, I interpreted niche to be an experience that not many other people have had. As for the experience in question, in middle school my parents took me to the doctor because they thought something was wrong. From everything the doctors had seen and heard, they came to the conclusion that I may be experiencing some sort of seizure. For the next few months I had to take brain scans, MRIs, and more. In the end, they were able to deduce I actually just had really bad Attention Deficit Disorder, and that the “seizures” were actually me just spacing out and ignoring everybody! The most memorable thing about this for me was having an EEG done, so for the illustration I turned the device into a sci-fi inspired super computer that had taken hold of a small boy and was reading his thoughts.
